Op 12 december organiseren het Fraunhofer Innovation Platform van de Universiteit Twente, het Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell production FFB en de Westfaalse Wilhelms-Universiteit in Münster (WWUM) de workshop “Modulaire batterijsystemen - key enabler for circularity &amp; design innovations”.Deze workshop is speciaal bedoeld voor MKB-bedrijven die producten ontwerpen en produceren waarvoor batterijsystemen nodig zijn, en bied de mogelijkheid om te onderzoeken hoe modulaire batterijsysteemoplossingen flexibiliteit in de productie kunnen bieden. Organizers of this workshop are the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform at the University of Twente, the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell production FFB and the Westphalian Wilhelms-University in Münster (WWU). All are partners within the Manufacturing NextMaterials-project in the Lighthouse-project "Manufacturing Solutions using NextMaterials in Advanced Battery Systems"According to a study from the Fraunhofer Institute ISI the European battery production capacity should increase tenfold from 124 giga watt hours to 1,5 terawatt hours by 2030. To reach this goal there is a need for a next generation of smart and sustainable materials.Crossborder upscalingA Major challenge lies in scaling up batter innovations from prototyping to complete production: e.g. safety, processing requirements of specific battery materials and integration with cases. The aim is a permanent collaboration between innovation centres on both sides of the border to scale up on the production of next-generation battery systems using innovative materials.
